I am always on the lookout for new beauty products catered to those of us who try to avoid toxins and are attracted to simple natural formulations. Grown Alchemist, an Australian brand with a minimalist apothecary aesthetic, is renowned for its effective botanical formulas. A new generation of organic skincare Grown Alchemist takes an all-natural approach to beauty products and guarantees results through use of potent oils and effective plant ingredients. Its design aesthetic requires separate praise. Grown Alchemist is proud to win the 2015 Wallpaper Design Award for their Detox Serum Antioxidant+3 Complex:
I first encountered Grown Alchemist products on a recommendation list of Net-a-Porter, an e-commerce website I respect for their high quality and unique luxury products. I wanted to find out more about this highly acclaimed brand, its ingredients and philosophy. The more information I read on their website, the more respect I felt for Grown Alchemist‘s goal to strip away all the unnecessary synthetic ingredients and preservatives, such as glycols, petrochemicals, silicones, parabens, synthetics, fragrance and animal derivatives. I ran out of my last beauty regimen products and decided to give myself an early Christmas present. What better gift is there at a time of skin abusing winter winds and drying heaters at home? My package arrived within a week and I could not wait to see the goodies!
I bought the entire beauty regimen suitable for my skin:
- Geranium Leaf, Bergamot & Rose Bud Gentle Gel Facial Cleanser
- Detox Serum Antioxidant+3 Complex
- White Tea & Phyto-Peptide Age-repair Moisturizer
- Tetra-peptide & Centella Age-repair Eye Cream
- Rosehip & Camellia Anti-oxidant Facial Oil
- Watermelon & Vanilla Lip Balm
First up in my review is the Geranium Leaf, Bergamot and Rose Bud Cleanser and it is lovely: a lightly scented and gentle foaming wash that does its job of cleansing without stripping the moisture from your face. I use it morning and night and am yet to see any sign of skin dryness even though its winter. I follow the cleanser with the Detox Serum Antioxidant+3 Complex and I love its texture. With light liquid consistency, it envelops my skin in nourishing moisture. The skin simply drinks it up like water! Next comes Tetra-peptide & Centella Age-repair Eye Cream. This gentle lotion is non-greasy and absorbs quickly. The light texture is very important for the eye area since the skin there is especially gentle and is weighted down with thick formulations. I have thrown out eye cream before because it gave me a feeling of film stuck under my eyes after application…horrendous. This cream is a miracle. Whenever I apply it, I forget it is there in seconds yet my under eye circles and puffiness have already been reduced significantly after only a week of use!
In the morning I follow all of the above treatments with the White Tea & Phyto-Peptide Age-repair Moisturizer. This one was a bit tricky for me. I did not love it on first use as I applied too little and it made my skin feel tight. The next day I used a little more and it worked wonderfully. This moisturizer is simply the coolest looking and most Instagrammable of the Grown Alchemist products! Contained in a white tube reminiscent of vintage apothecary products, it oozes refinement in its black and white minimalism. What is inside this chic tube is just as cool. The cream contains peptides, antioxidants and polyphenols – all ingredients beneficial to the skin and preventive of early wrinkles. It provides smooth application and a matte finish serving as a perfect makeup base as well.
In the evening, I swap the moisturizer for Rosehip & Camellia Anti-oxidant Facial Oil, often skipping the detox serum since it is potent enough on its own. I love oils as moisturizers. I think they work effectively at conquering skin dehydration very quickly. I do prefer to apply it at night only since the essential oils’ smell is more powerful and oil itself tends to look shinier on the skin. At night, however, it is perfect. It works its magic without my face looking like a buttery pancake and I wake up to a glowing dewy skin!
The last product I want to mention is Watermelon and Vanilla Lip Balm. Again the design is striking here in a black narrow tube that is a pleasure to whip out of your purse for touch ups during the day. The smell is a bit too strong for my taste with an emphasis on bold watermelon notes but it dissipates quickly living behind a clear glossy lip. I am a fan.
All in all, I am in love with my new skincare discovery! It is beautifully packaged (I love showcasing these bottles and tubes on my bathroom counter!), full of healthy goodness and does what it promises, keeping my skin moisturized, firm and beautiful!
